Artefact N° 1

Artefact N° 1

A thin tabletop resting on a solid pillar — both carved out of stone. Balancing the weight of the material, a steel construction of four slender legs, connected by a circular brace, provides the table with a design that is substantial and heavy, yet slim and elegant to the eye.

Designed to seamlessly adapt to its surroundings, this table invites effortless transitions between intimate gatherings and expansive social settings. It is not just a surface for dining – but a stage for movement — where conversations, gestures, and moments unfold with natural ease. The space of the tabletop gives an expression of an elevated surface, obvious in its architectural interactions with the room it’s placed in, for you to use and conquer.

Defined by the silhouette of Uni, the cup rests in the hand with quiet balance. Its form feels both deliberate and effortless – soft in contour, yet held by a distinct line that traces the rim all around.

Made in white porcelain and glazed only with a transparent finish, it carries the material’s natural tone and quiet tactility. The surface reflects light softly, while the outward curve of the rim gives the form a subtle tension – a gesture that invites touch as much as use.

Equally suited to morning rituals, quiet pauses, or a table set for company, it moves easily between occasions without demanding attention. Modest in character, it carries a sense of ease that allows it to belong anywhere.

Designed to belong among its companions, yet complete in itself. Simple in form, refined in detail, it turns everyday gestures into something deliberate – a reminder that the most familiar objects can also be the most considered.

Like the foundation of a building – the stable base that supports the structure above – Artefact No 15 is a symbol of strength and simplicity. It is built on architectural principles, where every detail serves a purpose and all excess has been stripped away.

The candle holder stands as a solid, square block from which four slender rods rise, enclosing the candle to hold it in place. The thin rods ensure that the entire candle remains visible, displayed in its full form, just as it is. The shape is inspired by reinforcement bars protruding from a freshly cast concrete slab, capturing the essence of construction.

Compact in scale yet deliberate in presence, this vessel carries a silhouette that is both sharp and soft. Grounded in proportion but with a sense of lift, it holds a profile that feels immediate and self-evident.

Its form draws inspiration from the pewter jugs of the past – small objects of remarkable character, often finely worked, treasured as much for their presence as for their function. Like those pieces, Uni captures the sense of an object that carries more than its size suggests, but translated into a quieter and more timeless expression.

The third table in the collection of artefacts continues the dialogue set by Artefact No 1 and Artefact No 2. Though small in scale, it carries the same refined presence, balancing mass and lightness in a single composition. A monolithic stone pillar anchors the structure, intersected by a steel disc that extends outward, supported by a single, slender leg. The design emerged from a pursuit of reduction — to create a functional object with as few elements as possible, without compromising stability or expression.

A transparent bowl captures the essence of its content, harmonising with the natural colours and aesthetics of the beverage it cradles. The round, modest bowl shape is a subtle nod to classic South European bistro glasses, while the intricate mouth-blown foot adds an element of decadence and refinement. The extended stem elongates the silhouette, enhancing the sense of fragility and grace, giving each glass a presence that is both playful and exquisite.

Organic in both shape and production, this piece emerged from a transformation of strict lines into fluid form. Initially conceived as a precise, geometric design, the object evolved in the hands of glass artist Kristin Larsson, shaped through the unpredictable nature of molten glass. The process itself became an exploration of movement and materiality, resulting in a vessel that feels both spontaneous and intentional.

This small coupe exudes a more playful and crooked demeanour than the taller Artefact No 10 – a piece with a slight sense of distortion, as if shifting between worlds. The elegant yet rustic silhouette of a coloured bowl conceals the beverage within, creating an effortless contrast to the delicate transparent bulb resting on a black foot. A sturdy companion, it stands out through its mouth-blown charm and captivating roundness.

This smaller table echoes the defining attributes of Artefact No 1, yet with an inverted composition that reshapes its expression. The monolithic stone pillar, now extending upwards, becomes the focal point, anchored by a steel framework that brings structure and stability. The result is an object that balances weight and airiness, solidity and openness, shifting its presence depending on perspective.
